Jazz Weekly: Randy Lee Riviere – Concrete Blues

By George W. Harris, Jazz Weekly.

Singer/guitarist Randy Lee Riviere rocks the blues like it’s the 1970s with Tom Hambridge/dr, Kenny Greenberg- Bob Britt/g, Robert Kearns-Stephen Mackey/b and Mike Rojas/key. The dozen originals rock steady on “Mania”, give some hard thunder for “Moccasin Lake” and serve up some rapid riffs for “Magic Bullet”. Riviere’s voice is strong and gritty, snarling on the bluesy pieces “Just Trying To Get Back Home” and “ The Wayside” and gliding over the funky bass line of “The Wayside”. Live wires.
